Swelling and cross-linking density effects on the structure of partially ionized gels

چکیده
We report on small angle neutron scattering experiments performed on weakly ionized gels at various cross-link densities or swelling ratios and on the corresponding solutions. The excess of scattering intensity observed in the gels compared to the equivalent solutions is attributed to frozen fluctuations of concentration associated with more densely cross-linked regions. The variation of the excess scattering intensity with cross-linking degree or swelling ratio supports the picture of a rather compact structure for these regions in contrast with the large branched overlapping structure suggested for other gels. The presence of electrostatic interactions during the gelation reaction reduces noticeably the extent and the amplitude of the frozen

Equilibrium Swelling Study of Cationic Acrylamide-Based Hydrogels: Effect of Synthesis Parameters, and Phase Transition in Polyelectrolyte Solutions
Cationic copolymer gels of acrylamide and [(methacrylamido) Propyl] trimethyl ammonium chloride (MAPTAC) were synthesized by free radical aqueous solution polymerization. The Taguchi method, a robust experimental design, was employed for the optimization of the synthesis based on the equilibrium swelling capacity of the hydrogels. Based on Taguchi method a standard L16 orthogonal array with fiv...

A C102H30 graphene sheet has been rolled up to construct Single-Walled Carbon NanoTube Fragments (SWCNTFs) as parts of armchair carbon nanotubes by computational quantum chemistry methods. Non-covalent cation-π interactions of the Na+ cation on the central rings of SWCNTFs have investigated. The binding energies of the Na+-SWCNTF complexes versus ...
متن کاملBiomolecule-responsive Behavior of Smart Gels Having Biomolecular Complexes as Reversible Cross-links
Introduction Stimuli-responsive gels undergo abrupt changes in volume in response to environmental changes such as pH and temperature. Stimuli-responsive gels have attracted considerable attention as smart materials in the biochemical and biomedical fields, since they can sense environmental changes and induce structural changes by themselves. The fascinating properties of such stimuli-responsi...
